Jesus Is Alive Today

Iain's first leg is now complete; yesterday's weather was awful but Iain reported that he and his fellow pilgrim Adam managed to stay dry! They were able to jolly one another along.

Iain recounts that in broad terms their travel took them through villages with a past of industry that was substantially related to coal, trade and fishing.

Also, through countryside that evidenced a continuity of working the land but now, apparently facing  the challenge from house builders who want the land for a different kind of cultivation, and to the relatively new city of Dunfermline with the refreshing, established and historical space of Pittencrieff Park.

And at the end, though tight cobbled streets that surround the ruins of the Palace and link to the 11th century Abbey and the 19th century parish church.

These structures are hugely impressive and hold one in awe of the vision, the skill and the enormity of what had been accomplished.

Iain was also saying that being a pilgrim gave him time to remember the good times he had shared with his dear friend Derick Ferguson and how they both loved being part of their "Praise Band" and being part of Sunday night Songs of Praise. Although Derick is no longer with us, he left behind some great hymns. I am sure you will agree with me, when you hear Iain lead us singing Jesus is Alive Today on Sunday!
